I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Luxury Automotive OEM based in Halewood who are seeking a Part Quality & Measurement Planning Engineer to join their team

Job Description

As Part Quality & Measurement Planning Engineer your main responsibilities are:

  • Responsible for the concept, design, development & delivery of all part quality & measurement standards data packages & equipment into our external supply base & internal manufacturing plants.
  • It is critical the Part Quality & Measurement Planning Engineer Lead and maintain the link between engineering, supply base and our manufacturing facilities, driving to not only deliver, but to improve our standards & processes in a passionate and collaborative manner, whilst living the business's core creator code behaviours.

Key Deliverables will be but not limited to the below

  • Take ownership of Teams Capacity and workload charts.
  • Lead strategic project deliverables set out by Stamping GME Manager.
  • Lead GME Stampings interface for vehicle locator systems.
  • Lead SCSS (YC/YS) general characteristics understanding & approval.
  • Lead Measurement point creation & external procurement
  • Responsible for all Audit requirements within the team.
  • Lead and distribute checking fixture procurement from the supply base.
  • Lead the development and inclusion of critical RFQ data.
  • Develop, improve and embed Cosmetic excellence, utilising black body & virtual surface analysis tools
  • GOM / ATOS trained to support launch & operational requirements
  • Understanding of CGA measurement (Circle Grid Analysis)
  • MSA / R&R activities internally & in the supply base
  • Development of processes & standards related to all aspects of Metrology.
  • PPAP documentation creation & control

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the Stamping GME Manager
  • Working within the safety parameters to ensure the safety of the individual & colleagues
  • Interface with stakeholders at all levels to develop and implement Metrology processes to support launch & operational activities
  • Benchmark OEMs to understand what they are doing in the same areas of business
  • Travel within the UK & overseas to support critical launch & buyoff events

The role will also involve:

  • Deliver both the functional and departmental KPI's to achieve key scorecard metrics with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Analysis and reporting of key data for the area and development of reports
  • Undertaking any other work as directed by your line manager in connection with your job as may be requested.

Key Interactions

  • Stamping GME leadership & management teams - to ensure an effective review and deployment process.
  • Stamping GME Engineering & operational teams - close interaction with distinct teams to support improved design & operational excellence.
  • Align with GME technologies to develop best practice's, through cross functional engagement.
  • External suppliers - For delivery of equipment, data packages & process improvement opportunities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Applicants must have either served a recognised engineering apprenticeship, degree level or equivalent experience in the Part Quality & Measurement Planning field
  • Extensive experience of Measurement Systems analysis (MSA)
  • Extensive experience of CMM & GOM
  • CATIA v5 & v6 experience
  • Detailed GD&T knowledge for interrogation
  • Extensive Checking fixture / gauge procurement.
  • Great level of presentation skills at all levels.
  • An ability to communicate to colleagues at all levels of the business
  • Good MS Office suite: Word, PowerPoint and Excel and experience of Google tools.
  • Driving licence and ability to travel extensively between sites.
  • Flexibility - whilst Halewood (Liverpool) based, candidates would be expected to be mobile with regular travel to Gaydon and the other Press Shops anticipated and as well as occasional overseas travel.
