Ford Motor Company is shifting production away from electric vehicles (EVs) in favour of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, according to plans recently outlined by the legacy car maker.
With demand for EVs falling short of projected forecasts made by car makers, Ford joins a series of manufacturers prioritising ICE vehicle production to support customer demand. Ford will shift production at its Oakville, Ontario factory in Canada from electric sports cars to combustion engine pickup trucks.
According to reports from Reuters, the US shortfall in demand is much in part due to economic uncertainty and high interest rates, as well as consumer preference for hybrids.
Contechs currently supports several ICE, hybrid, and all-electric vehicle programmes, providing dedicated expertise and vast engineering resources to global OEM clients.
