Chinese carmaker Zeekr has launched its second-generation ‘golden battery’, which the Geely-owned company claims is the world’s fastest-charging mass-produced battery.
Set to be available for the first time in the 2025 model year Zeekr 007, the 2nd generation 75 kWh Golden Brick Battery is a lithium-iron-phosphate battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in 10.5 minutes; 4.5 minutes faster than the first-generation battery.
The 2025 model year Zeekr 007 will retain the option of a 100 kWh Qilin battery for customers who prioritise range over charging speed. But for those who want the convenience of rapid battery charging, there is no faster-charging option globally than the upcoming Zeekr 007.
As the automotive industry transitions to electric vehicles and rapid-charging technology, Contechs is integrated with several global OEMs to provide innovative engineering solutions for next-generation EV programmes.
