A two-seat, self-driving electric car created by Croatian mobility tech start-up Verne has been approved for use in several cities, including Manchester in the UK and cities in Germany.
Spearheaded by EV entrepreneur Mate Rimac, the vision of Verne is to develop and deploy spacious, tech-focused autonomous taxis. Unveiled at the Rimac Automotive technology campus in Zagreb, this innovative new vehicle features a unique but futuristic appearance with a ‘halo’ sunroof, providing panoramic views of the city. Inside, a touchpad is placed between the two seats, allowing users to start and finish their journeys in addition to personalising the vehicle‘s lighting and temperature.
Initially set for testing in Zagreb, Croatia in 2026, the Verne vehicle will later be tested in UK and German cities in a controlled environment where test vehicles are deemed safe to use.
