A Ford Mustang Mach-E has completed a 569-mile journey on a single charge, earning it a place in the Guinness World Records for the longest distance travelled by an EV (electric vehicle) on a single charge.
Staged in the UK on 27 July, the crossover SUV managed to travel 569 miles, beating Chinese-owned Zeekr’s previous EV record of just under 564 miles. The endeavour took over 24 hours to complete and the Mach-E Premium Extended Range used in the challenge achieved an average of 6.25 miles per kilowatt hour from a 91kWh battery, beating that of the 3.8 miles per kilowatt hour figure according to the WLTP combined cycle.
The achievement represents a significant milestone in the development of electric vehicles, showing that modern EV technology is closer than ever to combustion vehicles for single-tank range.
