Volkswagen agrees deal to industrialise solid-state batteries

posted over 1 year ago

PowerCo, a Volkswagen Group subsidiary company, has announced a groundbreaking agreement with QuantumScape to industrialise production of next-generation solid-state lithium-metal battery technology.

The agreement enables PowerCo to mass produce battery cells based on QuantumScape’s technology platform at a rate of up to 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year, with the option to expand up to 80 GWh – enough to supply roughly one million vehicles per year. Volkswagen aims to utilise this new partnership to power future electrified models within its range.

Contechs works closely with several OEMs and strategic partners to develop next-generation EV platforms and EE architectures, providing expertise across packaging, feasibility, simulation, validation and more.
