Nissan has confirmed plans to commercialise autonomous-drive mobility services in Japan by fiscal year 2027. The global manufacturer has a long-term vision to empower mobility in Japanese communities by solving transportation service issues.
Named 'Nissan Ambition 2030', this vision sets out a strategy to enable free movement within these communities by tackling challenges such as driver shortages, which are a result of an ageing population. Nissan has already conducted a range of mobility service tests in Japan and abroad since 2017. This includes testing of an autonomous-drive mobility solution in London and other areas with the support of the UK government.
Commencing initial testing of this new scheme in 2024, Nissan will use an autonomous driving vehicle based on the Serena minivan.
Contechs has already adapted its services to support OEMs with intelligent connected car and autonomous driving capabilities, ensuring it remains at the forefront of innovation in this sector.
