Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has officially entered the electric vehicle (EV) market, revealing its inaugural model, the SU7, as it targets a spot amongst the world's top automakers.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun introduced the sedan, emphasising its “super electric motor” technology, promising acceleration speeds that exceed both Tesla and Porsche EVs. The SU7’s appeal extends beyond performance, featuring a shared operating system with the company’s electronic devices. The model aims to target consumer concerns, with fast-charging capabilities in low temperatures and obstacle recognition.
Lei Jun envisions the company becoming a global automotive leader within the next 15 to 20 years, aspiring to create a “dream car” comparable to industry leaders like Porsche and Tesla.
Contechs continues to lead the way in EV technology and development, supporting many established OEMs as well as EV start-ups with technical expertise and leading engineering teams.
