Tesla has confirmed it is exploring wireless inductive home charging for its electric car range.
The new technology will allow Tesla owners to charge their EV without needing to plug in. The ability to use induction charging in the future would synergise well with autonomous driving capabilities, providing the user with a fully autonomous service.
One drawback of this new technology is the need for infrastructure and associated costs with installing the floor charger. Tesla has previously favoured an automated robot arm instead of wireless charging, but now seems set on inductive charging as its solution for the future.
