BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis announced a new charging joint venture that aims to provide North America with 30,000 new chargers, fitted with both CCS and NACS plugs, in the coming years. The unnamed joint venture expects to have its first facilities open by the summer of next year and will be powered by 100% renewable energy.
Mercedes Group chief Ola Källenius’s said: "The fight against climate change is the greatest challenge of our time. What we need now is speed – across political, social and corporate boundaries…..Charging is an inseparable part of the EV-experience, and this network will be another step to make it as convenient as possible."
